Abstract
Introduction & Background:
The new Emergency Operations Center has 9-1-1 dispatch positions that use the MCC7500E radio consoles to dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls to all public safety departments in the county. These radio consoles are a critical piece of equipment for the 9-1-1 center.
Discussion & Analysis:
The new Emergency Operations Center was initially equipped with ten (10) MCC7500E radio consoles when it opened, leaving six (6) positions not equipped, but ready for future growth. The NC 911 Board has allowed these remaining six (6) positions to be fully equipped using a portion of emergency telephone system funds. Four (4) of the radio consoles are part of this contract, with the remaining two (2) radio consoles coming from a partnership with NC Emergency Management. These positions will be used for training new employees, additional workspace for overflow and allow for backup capabilities for other emergency communication centers across the state.
