Action Requested:
Motion to approve the grants to recreation agencies recommendations.

Introduction & Background:
Three recreation agencies submitted applications for the Grants to Recreation Agencies process. The agencies attended a Recreation Advisory Committee meeting to do a presentation about their requests. The allocated amount for the agencies is $20,300 and the total of $36,456.40 requested. The description of their requests are listed below.

Deep River Park- For the Camelback Bridge, remove/dispose of rotten/broken boards and replace boards per specs and patch with 9.5A asphalt on boards per specs. Also requested funds to purchase and install a new playground.

Bonlee- A shelter for the lower Bonlee Recreation ball field bleachers to provide shade and protection from weather. Also requested funds for a new set of bases for each field.

Sprott Youth Center- Sprott Center is located in Moncure.1) Provide open gym for 3hrs per week (typically on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon) for 50 weeks with 1 attendant/supervisor on duty. 2) Service/repair of both HVAC systems in the gymnasium. 3) Ceiling tile/insulation repair replacement in gymnasium.

Discussion & Analysis:
The Recreation Advisory Committee used the matrix score system and general discussion to make their recommendations.

Deep River Park scored 179.29. They requested $28,656.40. The Advisory committee realized that the playground requested amount exceeded the total amount of funds available to distribute to all agencies. Therefore, the Recreation Advisory Committee asked staff to assist them with finding playground grants and other funds to purchase a new playground. The Recreation Advisory committee recommended $6,500 to repair the bridge.

Sprott Youth Center scored 164.14. They requested $6,300. The Recreation Advisory Committee recommended $3,300 for attendant and $3,000 to repair the HVAC unit and ceilin...
