Vote on a request to appoint Delfino Benitez to a first (1st) term on the Board of Health as a public member, effective July 17, 2023.
Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Board of Health is the policy making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department.
According to General Statute 130-A-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and be composed of eleven (11) members: one physician licensed to practice medicine in this State, one licensed dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county commissioner, one professional engineer, and three (3) representatives of the general public.
Discussion & Analysis: Board members may serve up to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms. The Board of Health recommends Delfino Benitez to be appointed to the Board of Health as a public member.

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are compensated mileage and receive a meal.
Adequate funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department Budget.
