Abstract
Vote on a request to reappoint Karen Barbee, EdD, to fill a third (3rd) term on the Board of Health as a public member, effective July 17, 2023.
Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Board of Health is the policy making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department.
According to General Statute 130-A-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and be composed of eleven (11) members: one physician licensed to practice medicine in this State, one licensed dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county commissioner, one professional engineer, and three (3) representatives of general public.
Discussion & Analysis: Board members may serve up to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms. The Board of Health recommends Karen Barbee, EdD to serve a third (3rd) term on the Board of Health as a member of the public.

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are provided mileage to and from meetings and a meal.
Adequate funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department Budget.
