Vote to approve FY2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance amendment correcting expenditures for Bennett Fire District
Abstract
Introduction & Background: At the June 20, 2023, Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted to adopt the FY 2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance. After adoption, staff discovered an error in Section 2: Expenditures.
Discussion & Analysis: At the June 20, 2023, Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted to adopt the FY 2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance. After adoption, staff discovered an error in Section 2: Expenditures. In Section 2: Expenditures, the expenditures listed for Bennett Fire District were erroneously listed at $21,289, in order to be in accordance with G.S. 159 the revenues and expenditures for all funds must be balanced. The revenues are correctly listed at $212,829; the expenditures not matching was a keying error - the correct amount for the fund is $212,829 which is consistent with the approved revenues. This text amendment corrects the typographical error to the corrected amount of $212,829.

The amended Budget Ordinance, in Section 2: Expenditures will read as:
Bennett Fire District: $212,829
No other amendments are made to the FY 2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance at this time.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The FY 2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance continues to use the Comprehensive Plan as a mechanism to assist with determining funding. This budget ordinance continues to fund the priorities outlined in the Comprehensive Plan.
Budgetary Impact: There is no budgetary impact, this ordinance amendment is correcting a typographical error in the FY2023 - 2024 Budget Ordinance.
