Abstract

Action Requested: Vote to accept $7,500 grant funds from UNC Chapel Hill

 

Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Public Health Department as the backbone organization for the Equity for Moms and Babies Realized Across Chatham (EMBRACe) project is partnering with UNC Chapel Hill Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on a National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI)/National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant focused on the Community Implementation of a Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy and Postpartum Safety Bundle.

 

Discussion & Analysis: Through the EMBRACe collaboration, CCPHD will support the successful execution of the grant objectives by:

                     Participation in an Advisory Group to provide community and equity perspective to on the research and the formation of the partnership that will implement the research;

 

                     Participation in efforts to align and coordinate local perinatal care services that support the implementation and success of the ACHIEVE Respectful Care HBP Protocol

 

                     Sharing learnings and insights about women’s experiences with the local perinatal care system developed from story circles and data mapping project

 

                     Keeping EMBRACe partners apprised of UNC research efforts to address Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy and how ongoing efforts by respective coalition partners can complement mutual goals for improving equity in maternal and perinatal outcomes (such as public health messaging).
