Title
Vote to accept $89,265 roll-over State funding from FY24 for Communicable Disease Pandemic Recovery
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provides relief to address the continued impact of COVID-19 on the economy, public health, state and local governments, individuals, and businesses. A component of ARPA is the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds which provides state, local, and Tribal government with the resources needed to respond to the pandemic and its economic effects and to build a stronger, more equitable economy during the recovery. With this, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for additional funding of communicable disease programs at the local level to ensure that all communicable disease activities are able to be completed.
These funds were originally accepted in FY23, and the remaining (carryover) funds are requested to be added to the FY25 budget.
Discussion & Analysis: These funds will support communicable disease programs at the public health department, including vaccination efforts, clinic facility upgrades, and implementation of a new electronic medical records (EMR) system.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Relates to Plan Goal #10: Foster a healthy community.
Budgetary Impact: None.
Recommendation/Motion: Motion to accept $89,265 roll-over State funding from FY24 for Communicable Disease Pandemic Recovery.
