Receive an update from the Sheriff’s Office concerning FY 25 budget
Abstract
Introduction & Background: In the past, the Sheriff’s Office has participated in the county budget process by attending the Public Safety CIT meetings and working with county staff on budgetary expansions. Participation in this process has caused the Sheriff’s Office to fall behind on matters of budgetary importance while Chatham County continues to grow and develop.
Discussion & Analysis: The Sheriff’s Office will begin to present its own budget yearly to the commissioners. This direct contact will improve transparency in the budget process and allow the Sheriff’s Office to better advocate for its budgetary needs.

Budgetary Impact: None
Recommendation/Motion: No decision is needed, but the board may provide guidance to county staff or approve budgetary requests for the Sheriff’s Office for Fiscal Year 2025.
