Title

Vote to approve the contract with Trio Community Meals for Nutrition Services with An Amount Not to Exceed $375,000

Abstract

Introduction & Background:

Aging Services is seeking approval to add an amount to its contract with Trio Community Meals for its nutrition services program. The bid was originally awarded and approved by the Board at its January 16 meeting. This contract with Trio Community Meals states that the total amount will not exceed the threshold of $375,000. This program provides congregate (in-person) and home-delivered meals (“Meals on Wheels”) to its participants.

Discussion & Analysis:

Following the county’s invitation to enter its competitive bid process, two vendors (Golden Corral and Trio Community Meals) responded. The vendors were scored in this competitive bid process in seven distinct areas using the county’s bid tabulation sheet, with Trio Community Meals gaining the highest score. During the January 16 meeting, the Board voted to award the bid to Trio Community Meals.

Once approved, the contract may automatically be renewed annually for a maximum of three one-year periods. It would begin March 18, 2024 and end March 17, 2025.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This contract will enable Aging Services to meet the County’s Comprehensive Plan Objective of fostering a healthy community.

Budgetary Impact: The meals are primarily funded by the Home and Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG), which is reimbursable. No budgetary impact is anticipated.

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve the contract with Trio Community Meals for Nutrition Services with An Amount Not to Exceed $375,000.
