Receive a Presentation and Adopt the Statements Developed or Revised Through the Value Chatham Initiative
Abstract
Introduction & Background:
In October of 2023, the Value Chatham Team was formed as a response to the request by the Board of Commissioners to have an Equity Strategy.
To develop a comprehensive Equity Strategy, the Equity & Community Engagement Officer identified that the County should have Mission, Vison, Values and Equity statements in place as the foundation to build the strategy. Chatham County does not have those previously named statements.
The Value Chatham Team Initiative was formed comprised of four teams representing department heads, supervisors, or managers and one non-supervisory staff from every department. The teams were formed on a voluntary basis and were comprised of employees of different genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, political views, and ages. The teams met during the month of November and developed and voted on final statements that were presented to the County Manager, and the Assistant County Managers.
Discussion & Analysis:
The developed statements were presented to the County Manager and Assistant County Managers and approved this past January to be presented to the Board of Commissioners.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: One of the goals in Plan Chatham is to foster a healthy community. Creating the developed statements ensures a foundational pathway to foster a healthy community for all county residents.
Budgetary Impact: There is no budget impact for the adoption of statements developed through Value Chatham.
