Title

Vote to approve a request from the Sheriff’s Office to purchase seven vehicles for a cost of $283,847.90, using the North Carolina State Competitive Bid Award STC 2510A

Abstract

Introduction & Background:

As part of the budget process each year, vehicles are evaluated for mileage and reliability for the purpose of law enforcement support. Fourteen vehicles were approved in the Sheriff's Office capital outlay budget for FY2024.

Currently, seven vehicles have been ordered for the fleet. The Sheriff’s Office is now ready to purchase the other seven vehicles.

The NC General Statutes allow the County to use cooperative purchasing contracts through the North Carolina State Procurement NC70A. The formal bid process has been conducted by the NC Purchasing & Contract Division. Under the guidelines of G.S. 143-129(e)(3), the State contract purchases are exempt from additional bidding processes.

Discussion & Analysis:

The addition of these requested vehicles will benefit the Sheriff’s Office by replacing higher mileage vehicles which require more maintenance. Due to supply, delivery of these vehicles could take several months.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan:

Budgetary Impact: The seven vehicles will be purchased using the FY2024 capital outlay funds in the amount of $283,847.90.

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve the request from the Sheriff’s Office to purchase seven vehicles for a cost of $283,847.90, using the North Carolina State Competitive Bid Award STC 2510A.
