Abstract

Vote to accept $15,000 from UNC Health Chatham (Chatham Hospital) to support the 2024 Chatham County Community Assessment.

Introduction & Background: Every three years, the Chatham County Public Health Department, in partnership with the Chatham Health Alliance and Chatham Hospital, conducts a robust Chatham County Community Assessment. During the Community Assessment process, primary (survey and focus group) and secondary data are collected and used to generate a comprehensive report. This information is then used by the Chatham Health Alliance, Chatham Hospital, and Public Health Department, to identify priorities and plan collective action. The Public Health Department leads data collection and report development processes. The Chatham Health Alliance provides support for these efforts and leads prioritization and action planning. Chatham Hospital provides financial and staff support to assist with this process.

Discussion & Analysis: This funding from Chatham Hospital will be used to support this process, including data collection efforts.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Aligns with Plan Chatham objective 10: Foster a Healthy Community. The Comprehensive Plan specifically highlights utilizing the Community Assessment “to inform future initiatives.”

Budgetary Impact: No Local Funding Requested.

Recommendation: Motion to accept $15,000 from UNC Health Chatham (Chatham Hospital) to support the 2024 Chatham County Community Assessment.
