Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to accept $960,380 Covid-19-Prepardness and Response Funds (continuation from last fiscal year).

 

 

Introduction & Background: NC General Assembly passed Session Law 2020-4(H1043) to fulfill their constitutional duty to appropriate all funds, including federal CARES Act funds appropriated or otherwise made available under the COVID-19 Recovery Legislation, and to direct the use of those funds in a manner that is consistent with the authorizing federal legislation and that responsibly provides for the public health and economic well-being or North Carolina. Through this legislation, the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) was stablished.

 

Note: These grant funds were accepted in FY21 and remaining funds can be expended in FY22. This is to accept the remaining funds into the FY22 budget.

                     

Discussion & Analysis:  This funding originally allocated to State Fiscal Year (SFY)22 available in SFY21 to further enhance the Local Health Department’s ability to prevent, prepare for, and respond to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) by carrying out surveillance, epidemiology, laboratory capacity, infection control, mitigation, communications, and other preparedness and response activities.
