Title

Vote on a request to award the Bennett Water Tank Altitude Valve and SCADA Installation Project to A.C. Schultes of Carolina, Inc., and approve Dan LaMontagne, County Manager, to sign the contract on behalf of the County.

Abstract

Action Requested:  Vote on a request to award the Bennett Water Tank Altitude Valve and SCADA Installation Project to A.C. Schultes of Carolina, Inc., and approve Dan LaMontagne, County Manager, to sign the contract on behalf of the County.

Introduction and Background:  A cost estimate for the project was initially prepared by Hydrostructues in the amount of $130,000.00 and is the amount the Utilities Department requested in the budget for this fiscal year.  Bids were sought through the RFB process and we received 6 responses (bid tabulation attached).  A.C. Schultes was the lowest bid at $175,022.00.  The increase in costs from the original estimate is due to the increase in material and labor costs attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Discussion and Analysis:  The contractor will be installing an altitude valve, pressure reducing valve, multiple control valves and SCADA communication on the Bennett water tank to allow for improved pressure and flow control in the Bennett and Bear Creek service areas.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: N/A

Budgetary Impact:  Budgeted in current operating budget

Recommendation:  Vote on a request to award the Bennett Water Tank Altitude Valve and SCADA Installation Project to A.C. Schultes of Carolina, Inc., and approve Dan LaMontagne, County Manager, to sign the contract on behalf of the County.
