Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve the contract for Ellington Contracting to serve as the Contractor for the CORA Food Pantry Expansion project.
Introduction & Background: Chatham County received bids on July 2, 2020 for the CORA Food Pantry Expansion project. The project consists of the construction of a 2,800 sq ft metal shell space building (for CORA to finish out as warehouse/grocery store space), foundation work, and some site work. In the bid process, Ellington Contracting was identified as the apparent low bidder. After scope review and confirmation of the bid as being responsible and responsive, it is being recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve the contract for Ellington Contracting allowing them to begin the project.
Discussion & Analysis: It is being requested that the BOC approve the contract for Ellington Contracting to perform as the Contractor for the CORA Food Pantry Expansion project.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: 10. Foster a healthy community; BOC Goal - Provide social services and support that seek to minimize the impacts to those in poverty and stabilize individuals and families in the community.
Budgetary Impact: This project is proceeding in accordance with the budget as previously established with the Manager’s Office and Finance Office and the total amount is $251,121.04.
Recommendation: Approve the contract for Ellington Contracting to serve as the Contractor in the construction of the CORA Food Pantry Expansion.
