Introduction & Background: The goal of the North Carolina Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NC OMHHD) Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Training Program is to provide training for agencies and programs to increase cultural and linguistic competence through the adoption of the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health and Health Care.
Discussion & Analysis: This Agreement Addendum outlines the essential steps that the Local Health Department must take in order to become familiar with, adopt, implement, and assess itself against the National CLAS Standards.
This Activity enables the Local Health Department to implement the National CLAS Standards and improve health equity. The expected outcome is that the Local Health Department will provide all its clients with culturally and linguistically appropriate services to improve equity and eliminate health care disparities.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The funds will increase the Health Department’s ability to receive training and technical assistance in the areas of equity regarding customer service and internal policy development. This will formalize efforts by providing tangible goals for advancing the health service delivery to ensure it applies across the department.
Budgetary Impact: No Local Funding Requested.
