Action Requested: Request to award the new mowing contract for Parks and Recreation to Haw River Landscaping, in the estimated annual amount of $ 68,395.00.
Introduction & Background: Mowing of the grounds, parks and ballfields is a standard operation expense annually. Bids are sought on a cycle of three years, provided the contractor is performing satisfactorily. The award standard is for a one year contract, with the option to renew two additional one year terms upon mutual agreement.
Discussion & Analysis: The County sought formal bids for mowing services. Two bids were received for the Recreation and Parks division mowing. The bid per mowing occurrence for the division:
Green Revival Landscaping - 2,570.00
Haw River Landscaping - 2,015.00
The mowing season is approximately March 15 to November 30th, or about 37 weeks. The estimated total is based on 37 weeks of regular mowing, and nine occurrences for additional ballfield mowing. The estimated annual calculation is $68,395.00; and if the contract is performed satisfactorily, the three year estimate is $205,185.00.
