Vote on a request to approve $10,000 Chatham Hospital Community Health Assessment Work Funds

Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve $10,000 Chatham Hospital Community Health Assessment Work Funds

Introduction & Background:

As with the 2014 Chatham County Community Health Assessment, Chatham Hospital and the Chatham County Public Health Department partnered to conduct the 2018 Chatham Community Assessment. These funds are Chatham Hospital’s contribution to the assessment process.

Discussion & Analysis:

The partnership between Chatham Hospital and the Chatham County Public Health Department around the 2018 Chatham Community Assessment fulfils requirements for both organizations. Chatham Hospital is required by the Internal Revenue Service to complete a community health needs assessment every three years, and the Chatham County Public Health Department is required by the North Carolina Division of Public Health to complete a community health assessment every four years to maintain accreditation. In addition to fulfilling mandated requirements, the partnership between these organizations strengthens the assessment process and minimizes duplication of efforts across the county.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan:

These funds contribute to Health Action Item 03: Addressing localized data needs and gaps.

Budgetary Impact:

These funds will decrease the need to use alternative funds for community assessment work.

Recommendation: Motion to approve $10,000 Chatham Hospital Community Health Assessment Work Funds.
