Introduction & Background:
Discussion & Analysis: The County solicited formal bids for the site work and construction of a pre-engineered steel building with the first bid resulting in only 2 responses, requiring a rebid. The rebid was held with 6 bid submittals. The award is recommended to Ellington Construction Inc as the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Diversify the tax base….
The building strengthens support of Chatham Transit Network and will allow for expansion which will increase in-county jobs.
Provide infrastructure to support development
Future plans for the new site include a park and ride location at the new site that can be used for multi-modal transportation. The new site will increase the visibility of Chatham Transit Network which will lead to increased ridership and new routes.
Foster a healthy community
Continued support of Chatham Transit Network assists in assuring that Chatham Transit Network can provide transportation (access) to health care for Chatham County residents.
Budgetary Impact: The money for construction will be transferred from the general fund balance. After construction CTN will pay monthly rent over a 20 year term to offset the cost of the building.
