Action Requested: Vote on a request to accept $220.00 Minority Diabetes Prevention Program Funds.
Introduction & Background: The Division of Public Health allocated Minority Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) funding to Region V for the purpose of establishing an evidenced-based diabetes prevention program targeting minority populations within the nine (9) county region.
Discussion & Analysis: Program participants requiring financial assistance with the $25 program fee are offered a scholarship to reduce the cost of the program to $5. MDPP funds offset the scholarships.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The funds allow more members of the community to enroll in an evidence-based program that prevents diabetes.
