Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve the acceptance of the NC Horse Council grant funds in the amount of $5000.00 and the subsequent increase to the Ag Center Budget by $5000.00
Introduction & Background: In September of 2017 Chatham County added a 140x240 outdoor arena to the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center with hopes of adding an indoor facility in the future. The facility is available for 4-H, Animal Control, and Chatham County Schools to use at no charge and may be rented to the public for a daily rate of $200. Currently the footing is natural clay and will be drastically improved by adding sand to the natural footing. Improving the current arena conditions will provide a safer practice & competition area for our 4-H & FFA members. In addition, it will attract more producers & promoters of livestock events which will bring more visitors to Chatham County.
Discussion & Analysis: The contractor shall deliver and spread 312 tons of concrete sand in the 140x240 outdoor arena.

Budgetary Impact: An increase of $5,000.00 to the Agriculture and Conference Center budget.
