Discussion & Analysis:

The Recreation Advisory committee used the score sheet and general discussion to make their recommendations.

Bonlee Recreation Park.

Score 86

Recommended $7,595

Bonlee Recreation Park hasn’t requested funding from the recreation agency process in many years. The park is located in a small community. They rely on volunteers for a lot of park construction and programming.

Ssprott Youth Center

Score 73

Recommended $2,800

Sprott Youth Center is in a rural setting in Moncure and currently reaches a population of the county that is underserved. They are providing a service not offered in that area for youths and adults.

Friends of Lower Haw River

Score 64

Recommended $7,405

The Friends of the Lower Haw are making improvements to all of the signs and kiosks and providing educational information to the put in sites along the Haw River in Chatham County. These put in sites are used by Chatham County residents and by citizens outside of the county as well.

Triangle Land Conservancy

Score 64

Recommended $2,500

The committee felt that Triangle Land Conservancy has access to alternate funds and has the greatest ability to obtain money from various sources. They are more regional that the other agencies that applied.

Budgetary Impact:

$20,300

Recommendation:

Motion to approve Recreation Advisory Committee recommendations to award grants to recreation.
