Introduction & Background:
The owners of the SunTrust building on West Street are interested in selling the bank property located next to the old library (now MIS) to the county. The county would like to purchase it to meet the parking lot needs of the MIS building, possibly selling the rest of the property in the future or moving another county function into the old bank building. The old library building was given to the county by the Town of Pittsboro. The bank had allowed the town to access the library through its parking lot and access road. The old library now houses the county’s MIS function. All agreements for parking and access have expired. Currently, the MIS building does not have adequate parking and no access through the lot.
