Vote on a request to accept David Webster, DVM to fill the vacant Veterinarian Seat on the Board of Health effective 2-1-2017.

 

Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to accept David Webster, DVM to fill the vacant Veterinarian Seat on the Board of Health effective 2-1-2017.

                     

Introduction & Background: The county Board of Health is the policy-making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department.

According to General Statute 130A-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and shall include: Three public representatives, one licensed pharmacist, one licensed physician, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed optometrist, one licensed dentist, one county commissioner, and one professional engineer.

                     

Discussion & Analysis: The former Veterinarian Board of Health Seat was occupied by Dr. Lisa C. Duff, DVM, who does not wish to serve on the Board a second term.

David Webster is the owner and Veterinarian of Hope Crossing Animal Hospital.  Dr. Webster credentials include NC State Animal Science and NC State Vet School, DVM.

                     

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are compensated a per diem and mileage.

Adequate funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department budget.

                     

Recommendation: Vote on a request to accept David Webster, DVM to fill the vacant Veterinarian Seat on the Board of Health effective 2-1-2017.
