Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve amendments to the County Management and Sheriff Retention Schedules.
Introduction & Background: The Government Records branch of the NC Department of Cultural Resources, Division of Historical Resources, requires that certain records of the Sheriff’s Office and of County Management be retained for a certain period of time and then disposed of in a certain manner. Occasionally, the schedule is reviewed and updated by the State. Two amendments are now available and must be approved by both the Sheriff, County Manager and also by the Board of Commissioners.
Discussion & Analysis: These amendments clarify the retention for 911 calls received as text messages and reflect the legislation governing body-worn cameras for law enforcement personnel, which will go into effect October 1, 2016.
