Introduction & Background:
Chatham County has two Community Development Block Grants for Scattered Site Housing (2010) and Economic Recovery (2010) that were approved by the Board in 2011. The attached reports are required to be submitted to the Board for your review.
Discussion & Analysis:
In 2011, the County was awarded $400,000 in Community Development Block Grant Scattered Site Housing funds and $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant Economic Recovery funds for housing rehabilitation for low- and very-low income households. The county also awarded contracts to Hobbs, Upchurch & Associates for grant administration; Bradshaw & Robinson for legal assistance; and Environmental Testing Services Inc. for lead based paint inspections, lead risk assessments, and lead based paint clearance inspections. All funds have been expended for the grants and a close-out hearing was held on October 21, 2013. The final monitoring visits were conducted December 4 and 5, 2013.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Community Assistance emailed all CDBG recipients on February 4, 2013 and advised that the quarterly reporting will be replaced with monthly reporting effective immediately. The attached report is provided for the Commissioner's review.
Budgetary Impact:
All costs associated with the programs are covered by CDBG funds.
