Abstract
Introduction & Background: At the June 22, 2026 Joint Meeting with the Towns, the Board of Commissioners received a presentation on Scale Chatham. SCALE Chatham is an initiative focused on supporting entrepreneurship, small business development, and innovation within Chatham County. Through partnerships with organizations such as the NC IDEA Foundation, SCALE Chatham works to connect entrepreneurs and small businesses with resources, mentorship, networking opportunities, and programs designed to foster business growth and economic vitality.
Discussion & Analysis: Representatives from SCALE Chatham and the NC IDEA Foundation will provide the Board of Commissioners with an overview of their organization, current initiatives, and efforts to support entrepreneurs and small businesses in Chatham County. The presentation will highlight available programs, community partnerships, business support services, and opportunities to strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The presentation is intended to inform the Board about ongoing economic development efforts and resources available to residents and businesses throughout the county, and potential partnership opportunities to expand the same.
