Title

Vote to accept $62,409 funds for COVID-19 vaccination support (continuation from last fiscal year).

Abstract

Vote to accept $62,409 funds for COVID-19 vaccination support (continuation from last fiscal year).

Introduction & Background: Local health departments are to focus on the work of removing barriers and expanding their COVID-19 vaccination programs. The maintenance of on-site, satellite, temporary or off-site COVID-19 vaccination clinics must adhere to cold-chain procedures in accordance with the vaccine manufacturer's instructions and CDC’s guidance on COVID-19 vaccine storage and handling. Priority must be given to activities focused on the hard-to-reach, high-risk, underserved populations and increasing vaccine confidence to increase community vaccine coverage. Vaccine hesitancy is a complex matter that involves various factors, such as confidence, complacency, and convenience. These funds were received in FY22 and the remaining funds are requested to be added to the FY24 budget. Note: Of the total amount, $32,409 is carryover funding and $30,000 is additional new funding through the same initiative.

Discussion & Analysis: These funds provide support for staffing and supplies related to COVID-19 vaccinations, and may also be used for equipment and upgrades to support this work.
