Vote to reappoint Sara Hofmeier to the Board of Health as a public member, effective June 30, 2026
Abstract
The Chatham County Board of Health is the policymaking, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department. According to General Statute 130-A-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and be composed of eleven (11) members: one physician licensed to practice medicine in this State, one licensed dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county commissioner, one professional engineer, and three (3) representatives of the general public.
Discussion & Analysis: Board members may serve up to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms. Sara Hofmeier served the remainder of an unexpired term and is now eligible to serve up to three additional terms. The Board of Health recommends Sara Hofmeier to be reappointed to the Board of Health as a public member. This will count as her first term on the Board.

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are provided with mileage to and from meetings and a meal. Adequate funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department Budget.
