ABSTRACT
Action Requested: Receive report on the operation of the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center
Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center opened to internal events in February of 2017 and to external (revenue) events in April 2017. After approximately a year and a half of operation, this report is intended to give the BOC a snapshot of activities, events, and revenues experienced and realized during that time.
Discussion & Analysis: This will provide an opportunity for the BOC to obtain a better understanding of what events and the type of events that have been held at the Conference Center. It will also allow the BOC to ask any questions or relate any concerns or observations to the staff of the Conference Center.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: 2. Preserve, protect, and enable agriculture and forestry - continue to host and promote agriculture related events and provide support to the agriculture related offices in the adjacent wing including forestry; 6. Provide recreational opportunities and access to open space - the addition of the outdoor arena has enabled more opportunities to host livestock and equine activities that include attendee participation; 7. Provide infrastructure to support development and support economic and environmental objectives - continue to promote use of the indoor and outdoor facilities to both in-county and out-of-county users to expand the economic impact to not just the facility, but to the surrounding businesses.
