Recognize retiree Mike Roberson for his retirement from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office

 

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Sheriff Mike Roberson retired on July 15, 2026.

                     

Discussion & Analysis: Mike Roberson served the Sheriff's Office in numerous leadership roles before being appointed sheriff in 2016 and subsequently elected by the citizens of Chatham County in 2018 and 2022. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional commitment to public safety, professional excellence and service to the community.

 

During his tenure, Sheriff Roberson earned statewide and national recognition for his leadership, including serving as president and chairman of the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association, receiving the Special Olympics North Carolina Sheriff of the Year Award and the Humane Society of the United States Humane Law Enforcement Award, and serving on the North Carolina Department of Justice Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission. In recognition of his distinguished service, exemplary leadership and lasting contributions to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, the citizens of Chatham County and the law enforcement profession.

 

Chair Amanda Robertson presented a Chair’s Proclamation during his retirement ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
