Award bids for Annex renovations to Bordeaux Construction and amend the Annex Project Budget to reflect increased cost

Bids were received on February 6 to renovate the eastern half of the Annex Building. Sixteen bids were received. Bordeaux Construction was the low bidder, as follows:
Base bid: $1,181,999
Alternate 1 (replace windows): $37,700
Alternate 2 (owner preferred security system): $0
Alternate 3 (new window blinds): $1,900
Alternate 4 (new coating on exterior corridors): $7,200
Alternate 6 (framing in attic spaces): $2,000
Alternate 7 (add structural reinforcement to elevated floor slab): $7,300
Total: $1,238,099
The bid with selected alternates exceeds the current budget by $88,349. In addition, structural work needed in the design phase has added $6,000 to the design budget. Staff has worked to trim the furnishings budget by $10,000. Overall the project is over budget by $84,349, as shown in the table below:
