Action Requested: Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Annual Plan
Introduction & Background: Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils (JCPC) are created and funded by a state and local partnership in all 100 North Carolina counties. The Department of Justice Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice allocates funding to each county JCPC to be awarded as grants to local programs that address services for court-involved, delinquent, or at-risk youth. Chatham County provides matching funds to the state grant award.
Each year the JCPC prepares an annual plan, attached here. The annual plan includes information on the risk and needs data for Chatham County gathered by the state, the organization of the JCPC, the prioritization for funding, the certification standards and funding plan for Fiscal 2020-2021.
Discussion & Analysis: The JCPC Annual Plan includes support to the Department of Juvenile Justice for treatment for youthful offenders and families.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This item relates to comprehensive plan goal #10, fostering a healthy community by providing treatment and resources to support the youth within Chatham associated with Juvenile Justice.
Budgetary Impact: The JCPC Annual Plan is funded by the State of North Carolina. Chatham County provides matching funds to the state grant award.
