Vote to adopt a resolution for the addition of streets to the North Carolina System of Secondary Roads for the Briar Chapel Subdivision
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the addition of thirty-one streets for the Briar Chapel Subdivision. NCDOT’s office has investigated the subject street and found them to meet the minimum requirements for addition.
Chatham County wishes to cooperate with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, to place streets and roads within the County of the North Carolina System of Secondary Roads, operated and maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
A list of the new additional streets and a map of the streets can be found in the attached documents for this agenda item. The list and map have both been provided by NCDOT.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan:
The Chatham County Comprehensive Plan calls for a thoughtful, diverse, and resilient roadway system to serve the county. In the state of North Carolina, the transportation planning process is heavily dependent upon the State of North Carolina’s Department of Transportation for guidance, maintenance of county roads, and long-range transportation plans. Cooperating and continuing a positive relationship with NCDOT is crucial to the future development of Chatham County’s Road system.
