Vote on a request to award the vehicle upfit bid on the Sheriff’s seventeen new vehicles to Precision Rescue Vehicles in the amount of $101,823.00.
Introduction & Background:
The County solicited formal bids for the upfit of seventeen new 2017 vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office. Seven vendors were contacted directly by email and or phone, as well as publishing the advertisement in the Chatham News and on the Chatham County Bid Opportunity page.
The formal bid process required the bids to be submitted in a sealed envelope or package and sent or delivered to the Purchasing Agent in the Finance Office located at 12 East Street.
While the County seeks out competition and desires three bids, there is no state requirement for three bids for purchase of goods and service.
Discussion & Analysis:
The bid submitted by Precision Rescue Vehicles is as listed:
Four (4) 2017 Explorers/Utility - $7,757.00 each
Twelve (12) 2017 Taurus/Sedans - $5,527.00 each
One (1) 2017 Taurus/Sedan - $4,471.00 each
The bid total for the seventeen vehicles is $101,823.00. The County included language in the bid document that the bid price be honored for a period of one year if additional vehicle upfit for the models bid are needed during the year.
Budgetary Impact:
The vehicles and upfit equipment are included in the current budget year.
Recommendation:
• Recommendation to award the vehicle upfit bid on the Sheriff’s seventeen new vehicles to Precision Rescue Vehicles in the amount of $101,823.00.
• County Manager to execute Purchase Order contract for the upfit of the seventeen (17) vehicles.
