A request to approve a letter of intent to commit required matching local funds for bicycle and pedestrian projects submitted through the Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization for SPOT 4.0 state transportation project prioritization process and to adopt a resolution to endorse the TARPO project list.
Introduction & Background:
As with the SPOT 3.0 process, NCDOT is requesting that local jurisdictions submit a letter of intent to commit local matching funds for bicycle and pedestrian projects. Chatham County has one project, Hamlets Chapel Rd/Jones Ferry Rd bike lane project, from US 15-501 to Orange/Chatham line, that if included in the final State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), the county would be responsible for the 20% local match. The programming for these projects is scheduled for 2021-2027. A sample letter of intent to commit the 20% local match is attached for consideration.
Lastly, TARPO is requesting a resolution endorsing, or provide comment on, the TARPO project list identified for consideration in the NCDOT SPOT 4.0 process. The Attached resolution contains the complete list of projects identified for the TARPO region. Please note these projects are not ranked currently. Projects specific to Chatham County are listed below. Those within the jurisdiction of the county are italicized.
