Vote on a request to approve a contract for fiscal year 2013-2014 between the Division on Aging and Adult Services (as represented and administered by the Triangle J Area COG Agency on Aging) for Chatham County to receive federal and state funds allocated to provide certain services through under the Home and Community Care Block Grant; for the grant to be passed through to the Chatham County Council on Aging for the provision of services as mandated by the Older Americans Act, and governed by the rules and regulations of the DAAS.
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The Home and Community Care Block Grant is the vehicle used nationwide to distribute state and federal funding according to a formula in the Older Americans Act. Services are provided according to the Standards established by the Federal and State divisions on Aging units. Each County appoints a Block Grant Committee to consider the allocation of funds among services. The budget for fiscal year 2013-2014 has been approved. The attached contract gives authority for the County to accept the funds and pass them through to the Council on Aging to provide the services and receive the grant.
Discussion & Analysis: The Chatham County Council on Aging is the sole provider of the services under this contract.
