Title
Vote to approve CDM Smith Task Order #1 to the On-call Engineering Contract in the amount of $143,768.00 for water line extensions

Abstract
Introduction & Background:
Growth in Chatham County and particularly in the northeast corner is moving at a rapid pace and the Water Master Plan prepared by Freese Nichols Engineering identifies a number of improvements needed to the existing water distribution system. Currently, Chatham County receives water from the City of Durham through a 16" transmission main connected to a 6" interconnection meter. Up to 4 MGD is available for the County; however, no more than 3 MGD gets through the system because low pressures are being experienced in both the Governor's Forest Subdivision and Governors Village Phase 5 Subdivision areas. It is imperative that Chatham County be able to access the 4 MGD and to achieve this goal the two subdivisions need to be disconnected from the Durham Transmission main.

Discussion & Analysis:
This project will valve off the Governor's Forest Subdivision and the Governors Village Phase 5 Subdivision from the 16-inch Durham transmission main on Old Farrington Road and tie them to the County's existing system by watermain extensions. The watermain extensions are as follows:

* Governor's Forest Subdivision: Extend an 8" Watermain on the south side of Old Farrington Road between Twin Branch Lane and Whippoorwill Lane connecting the existing water lines at each end (Approximately 1,500 linear feet).
* Governors Village Phase 5 Subdivision: Extend an 8" Watermain connecting to the existing 8" watermain between David Stone Drive and Wicker Drive (Approximately 250 linear feet).

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Improve infrastructure to support desired development by increasing the number of gallons available to the area.

Budgetary Impact: Included in Operating Budget process.
