Introduction & Background:

                     

Goldston Youth and Recreation Presentation

The presenters shared information on Goldston Park.  The agency serves Chatham and surrounding areas.  Approximately 2000 people use the park.  They are requesting funding for bases, ball field drags, plates, tarps, chalk, batting cages, upgrade ball fields and parking lot improvements.  Bases last 4-5 years.  Current batting cage is 10+ years old.  Tarp would be stored in storage area.  Their priority needs: 1 drag, 1 batting cage- probably could scale back sand/rock.

Deep River Park Association

The representative reviewed the three parks - Deep River, McIver, Carbonton.  There are many needs for each of these parks.  They are requesting for steps and bridge maintenance, and upgrades for access to playground at Deep River Park.

East Chatham Baseball

The representative shared information about the program.  They are requesting funding for athletic light bulbs and pole replacement and maintenance, batting cages, and fence safety.  Their priority need is to replace one of the poles and nets on batting cages.

The Recreation Advisory Committee reviewed and scored the applications. 

Deep River Park Association scored highest therefore the committee recommended full funding in the amount of $2,945. Goldston Youth and Recreation scored the second highest and the committee recommended partial funding in the amount of $6,500. The committee also recommended partial funding for East Chatham Baseball in the amount of $10,855.
