Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on Request to Approve Competitive Bid Exemption for Standardization and Sole Source for the North Carolina Institute for Public Health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health

Introduction & Background: In continuation of our annual Community Assessment work, this request is to approve the Chatham County Public Health Department (CCPHD) to proceed with a contract in the amount of $28,535.52 with the North Carolina Institute for Public Health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

The goal of this project is to provide continued collaboration with and technical assistance to CCPHD for the 2021 Chatham Community Assessment (CA). Since 2018, NCIPH has contracted annually with CCPHD to manage the design, collection, and analysis of the CA. The collaboration between NCIPH and CCPHD has been vital to the success of the annual CA process, and the results of this data collection provide critical information for the ongoing assessment of community health issues and priorities that are cross-cutting beyond public health to inform other County operations such as parks and recreation, transportation, and equitable access to County services.

Discussion & Analysis: Because of this ongoing partnership and NCIPH's history with this project and expertise in this area, they are uniquely qualified to complete this work. Because of this, this request is for an exemption to the competitive bid process for this contract.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Supports comprehensive plans goal: to "Foster a healthy community." The Comprehensive Plan includes the strategy to "utilize community assessments, such as the Community Health Assessment, to inform future initiatives."
