Abstract

Introduction & Background: This resolution recognizes October as National Youth Justice Action Month and reaffirms Chatham County’s commitment to supporting youth through prevention, early intervention, diversion, rehabilitation, and positive youth development. It highlights the importance of collaboration among families, schools, courts, community organizations, and service providers to address the underlying needs of youth and provide opportunities for them to succeed.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The resolution aligns with the Chatham County Comprehensive Plan by supporting a healthy, equitable, and thriving community through youth prevention, early intervention, diversion, rehabilitation, and access to supportive services. It also strengthens collaboration among families, schools, courts, and community partners to promote positive youth development and reduce justice-system involvement.
