Receive an update on Broadband Initiatives and the Digital Equity Grant and vote to adopt the Chatham County Digital Inclusion Plan
Abstract
Introduction & Background: Broadband and digital inclusion remain critical priorities for the Board of Commissioners and the residents of Chatham County. Following public feedback, the Chatham County Digital Inclusion Plan has been revised and is now presented for adoption. This plan outlines strategies to improve broadband access, affordability, and adoption across the county. Additionally, this presentation will include updates on the launch of a broadband community hub designed to centralize and enhance access to broadband-related information, and representatives from the Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) will provide an update on the Digital Equity Grant initiative and its implementation.
Discussion & Analysis:
Digital Inclusion Plan Adoption: Present the revised Chatham County Digital Inclusion Plan, summarize key feedback received during the community review process, and highlight updates made in response to public input.
Broadband Community Hub: Introduce the broadband hub, which will serve as a centralized resource for residents to access information about broadband providers, grants, and digital inclusion programs.
Digital Equity Grant: CPRC representatives will provide an overview of the Digital Equity Grant initiative, detailing the grant, training to be offered, and the provision of post training devices to participants.
