ABSTRACT

 

Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve and execute an easement granting Duke Energy Progress access to furnish power to the new Emergency Operations Center being constructed off Renaissance Drive and Innovation Way.

 

Introduction & Background: The construction of the new Emergency Operations Center and Communications Tower will require the services of Duke Energy Progress to furnish power to the site.  To accomplish this, they need a dedicated easement for placement and future maintenance of their transmission lines and equipment.

 

Discussion & Analysis: This document will be required for Duke Energy to proceed with furnishing power to the site.

 

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan:  7. Provide infrastructure to support desired development; 8. Become more resilient; BOC Goal - Ensure public safety through adequate resources, plans, and partnerships.

 

Budgetary Impact:  No budgetary impact as this is a no cost easement.
