Title

Vote to approve a contract with Motorola Solutions in the amount of $205,343.35 for public safety radio bidirectional amplifiers and distributed antenna systems in Chatham Central High School, Bonlee School, and Margaret B. Pollard Middle School

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Public safety responders need to be able to communicate inside of buildings using their radios and building construction can cause an issue with the radio signals.  The bidirectional antenna (BDA) and distributed antenna systems (DAS) created an antenna network inside the school to repeat the radio transmissions.

Discussion & Analysis: The radio system upgrade project has improved radio coverage throughout the county; however, some buildings need the BDA and DAS installed to allow radio use inside of the buildings for public safety use.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Become more resilient by mitigating, responding, and adapting to emerging threats.  Ensure public safety through adequate resources, plans, and partnerships to keep people and property safe.

Budgetary Impact: $205,343.35

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve a contract with Motorola Solutions in the amount of $ for public safety radio bidirectional amplifiers and distributed antenna systems in Chatham Central High School, Bonlee School, and Margaret B. Pollard Middle School.
