Title
Vote to amend the contract with Chatham County Economic Development Corporation for economic development services with an increase of $10,551 with a total of $467,109
Abstract
Introduction & Background: Vote to approve an increase of $10,551 to the contract with Chatham County Economic Development Corporation for economic development services. The total contract will increase from $456,558 to $467,109.
Discussion & Analysis: The proposed contract increase provides additional funding to support personnel expenses for the Chatham County Economic Development Corporation (EDC). This adjustment aligns the contract amount with the EDC’s FY26 budget request, that was not fully reflected in the FY26 approved budget. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, the EDC has absorbed a portion of these costs through its existing resources.
Within the County’s Economic Development budget, sufficient funding is available to accommodate this increase without requiring a budget amendment, i.e., an increase to the departmental budget overall. This capacity is the result of lower-than-anticipated contracted services expense in the current fiscal year, which has created flexibility within the department’s existing appropriation. Approval of this amendment provides continued support for economic development services while remaining within the department’s approved budget framework.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan:
Budgetary Impact: The increase will utilize existing departmental funds, and no budget amendment is necessary.
Recommendation/Motion: Motion Vote to amend the contract with Chatham County Economic Development Corporation for economic development services with an increase of $10,551 with a total of $467,109.
