Abstract
Introduction & Background: Each year, the Chatham County Public Health Department contracts with Chatham County Schools to support two school nurse positions and one School Health, Physical Education and Wellness Instructional Program Facilitator. The school nurses are funded by the School Nurse Funding Initiative through NC DHHS. The School Health, Physical Education and Wellness Instructional Program Facilitator is funded through County appropriations.
All supported positions help to foster healthy school environments for students and ensure state requirements are met.
Discussion & Analysis: The total cost of the contract exceeds $100,000 and therefore requires Board of Commissioner approval.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Relates to Plan Goal #10: Foster a healthy community.
Budgetary Impact: Funding is already budgeted.
