Action Requested: Vote on a Request for Permission to Apply for a Grant through the NC Governor’s Crime Commission to Purchase a Fingerprint/Palm Print Identification System.
Introduction & Background: Fingerprint/Palm Print Identification System will help with the identification of criminal investigation suspects.
Discussion & Analysis: The new system will provide the ability to compare fingerprints in-house, resulting in a more timely and robust response to field investigators.
Budgetary Impact: The total cost of the new system is $25,975. If approved, the Grant will provide $24,500 toward the cost of the new system and the remaining balance of $1,475 will be paid using funds budgeted in next FY using concealed carry weapon revenue.
Recommendation: Grant permission to apply for a Grant through the NC Governor’s Crime Commission in the amount of $24,500.
