Vote on a request to adopt a Resolution to Petition North Carolina State Office of Human Resources for Substantial Equivalency

Abstract

Action Requested:  Approve the resolution to petition North Carolina State Office of Human Resources for Substantial Equivalency

Introduction & Background:  Chatham County is seeking approval from the North Carolina State Human Resources Commission to designate that Chatham County has a human resources system equivalent to that of the State of North Carolina.  North Carolina General Statute §126-11 allows the board of county commissioners to petition the State Human Resources Commission to allow the authority to establish an internal system that is “substantially equivalent” to the system used by the North Carolina Office of Human Resources.  Chatham County seeks a determination of substantial equivalency in the areas of System Portion I-Recruitment, Selection and Advancement and System Portion II-Classification and Compensation.

Recommendation:  Approve the resolution for Chatham County to seek approval from the North Carolina State Human Resources Commission to designate that Chatham County has a human resources system equivalent to that of the State of North Carolina.
