Title

Receive and Discuss Legislative Goals Survey Results

Abstract

Introduction & Background: The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners asks all 100 counties to submit legislative goals ahead of the 2025-2026 Biennium. Goals must be submitted by August 23rd to be considered by the Legislative Goals Committee in November.

Discussion & Analysis: The NCACC’s legislative goals process is an opportunity to learn about common challenges facing North Carolina counties and prioritize advocacy efforts with the NC General Assembly.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Many of the goals submitted may address a variety of Plan Chatham goals. After discussion staff will work to identify specific Plan Chatham goals for each legislative goal.

Budgetary Impact: No funds are required to participate in the NCACC’s legislative goals process.

Recommendation/Motion: Direct staff to come back to the August 19th meeting with a final list of goals for consideration.
