Title

Vote to appoint a member to the Goldston Gulf Sanitary District Board with a term expiring November 2, 2927

Abstract

Introduction & Background: The Goldston Gulf Sanitary District is a local public utility district based in Goldston that provides water and wastewater/sanitary services to customers in and around the Goldston and Gulf communities in Chatham County. On June 27, 2026, Goldston Gulf Sanitary District board member Henry Kitchings passed away, therefore creating a vacancy. Kitchings was elected on November 7, 2023, for a four-year term. Any vacancy on a sanitary district board shall be filled by the county commissioners until the next election for sanitary district board members.

The election for this vacant term will be on November 2, 2027, therefore the replacement would be administered the oath of office on December 6, 2027. After reviewing applications, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners will make an appointment until the replacement is administered the oath of office on December 6, 2027.

Discussion & Analysis: The following individuals have applied for the vacancy:

Travis Cade

Whitney Lauren Dane

Zayne Krontz

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Provide infrastructure to support desired development and support economic and environmental objectives. Filling the vacancy on the Goldston Gulf Sanitary District Board supports continued governance and oversight of water and wastewater services within the district.
